Procurement Officer
Job Specifics
The Procurement Officer is responsible for managing the sourcing, purchasing, and tendering processes within the organisation. This includes identifying contract opportunities, preparing and submitting competitive bids, and ensuring compliance with UK procurement regulations and organisational policies.

£28,000 to £45,000 per year depending on experience and sector
- Experience bidding for healthcare or domiciliary care contracts
- Knowledge of local authority frameworks and NHS procurement
Key Responsibilities
Tendering & Bidding
- Identify relevant contract opportunities via portals such as Contracts Finder and Find a Tender Service
- Prepare, coordinate, and submit high-quality tender and bid documents
- Analyse tender specifications, requirements, and evaluation criteria
- Ensure all submissions meet deadlines and compliance standards
- Liaise with internal teams to gather required information for bids
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Source goods and services in line with company needs and budgets
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers
- Maintain supplier relationships and monitor performance
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure procurement activities comply with UK procurement regulations and policies
- Maintain accurate procurement records and audit trails
- Support adherence to frameworks such as public sector procurement rules
Financial & Commercial Management
- Monitor procurement budgets and cost savings
- Conduct cost analysis and value-for-money assessments
- Support financial planning and reporting related to procurement
Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with finance, operations, and management teams
- Provide procurement advice to internal stakeholders
- Assist in contract mobilisation and implementation
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of UK procurement and tendering processes
- Excellent written skills (essential for bid writing)
- Negotiation and supplier management skills
- Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Analytical and commercial awareness
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field (desirable)
- Experience in procurement, tendering, or contract management
- Knowledge of UK public sector procurement is advantageous
- Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (desirable)
